Make Sure to Include These When You Pack for Costa Rica 1: Quick Drying Clothing Quick Dry clothing was a must while canyoning in La Fortuna Clothing that dries quickly is an essential for any Costa Rica packing list. Whether you’re needing hang dry some clothing half way through the trip or you get caught in a sudden down pour, you’ll be glad to have clothing that doesn’t take ages to dry. Packing a few tops and bottoms that fit the bill will greatly reduce the hassle of waiting on soaked clothes to dry. 2: Rain Jacket (a must-have item to pack for Costa Rica) A light rain jacket was perfect for exploring the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve. A rain jacket is a must in Costa Rica no matter when you visit. Weather is unpredictable, and having a light rain jacket can really save the day when you’re out exploring. Even if it doesn’t really rain, having a rain jacket while exploring the cloud forest in Monteverde was a great option to the chill away without breaking a sweat. The right rain jacket can be folded tightly and won’t mean you need to sacrifice much space in your suitcase. 3: Plastic Bags (for storing wet clothing & shoes) Even when planning ahead for the weather, you sometimes still get caught off guard. If you’re left with wet clothing or shoes, it is nice to have a bag to store them in so they don’t ruin your other luggage. Keeping a bag in your rental car for such an event means you have a convenient place to store them until you get to your next accommodation. Take it from us, wet clothes in a hot car are not pleasant if you have a long drive through the Costa Rican countryside. 4: Bug Spray This bug repellant scarf worked great as a shawl while exploring the streets of Venice. In a tropical climate, bug spray is a must. Packing some on your carry on means you don’t have to worry about tracking it down in a local store or suffer until you’re able to find some. Another great option, is bug repellant clothing. The Insect Shield scarf has become an essential for every trip we go on, and we wish we’d had it when visiting Costa Rica. They have lots of bug repellant clothing options available for all your travel and camping needs. 5: Sun Screen The sun is no joke in Costa Rica whether you’re relaxing on the beach or hiking in the mountains. A sunburn is a great way to put a damper on an epic adventure. Remembering to apply sunscreen throughout the day can avoid the hassle of a sunburn and ensure you’re able to take advantage of every second of your dream Costa Rica vacation.
